Hey Queens!
I saw a quote that said “I’m nicer when my skin looks good”. and I totally agree. I’m also nicer when I’m fed too but that’s another subject for a different day hahhaha. But in all seriousness having a good skin will make you feel super confident. You won’t feel the pressure to apply makeup whenever you have to run an errand, especially now that we have to wear masks; y’all already know how annoying that is to have makeup all over it, so I love when all I need to do is apply my moisturizers; sunglasses and walk out the door.
If you are an OG WrapQueen follower then you know ya girl loves her some makeup all dayyy okay with big lashes that demand attention combined with the brightest eyeshadow combo and a killer nude lip. But If I’m being completely honest I don’t enjoy wearing makeup if my skin underneath doesn’t look the best. Because once your skin looks good your makeup will be even more flawless and that’s exactly what we want to achieve.
1. Start a Skincare Routine
The first step in achieving flawless skin is :Drum Roll Please: A skin care routine! Yeap just having a skincare routine that is doable and you can be consistent with will help so much. Try to find out what your skin type is, Is it oily? dry? combination skin; and then invest in products that cater to your skin type. Moisturize & Cleanse daily Moisturizing should be an essential part of your skincare routine. Use a gentle non-comedogenic cleanser to prevent clogging pores.
2. Get You Some Vitamin C
As women of color we tend to get dark spots left behind after a breakout, I know I do and it sucks to be honest. But investing in a good vitamin C serum will help tremendously. It revitalizes the skin and helps with hyperpigmentation. I also use a toner which helps me so much as well …I will list it below if you are interested in what I use to prevent dark marks. Aloe Vera is also the plug too you guys. I swear it helps me when I use it as a mask as it hydrates and soothes the skin.
3. Sunscreen is not only for the Beach
Okay so I can’t stress this enough but wear sunscreen. If you don’t do anything else please do this step. I even wear my sunscreen underneath my makeup. Not wearing sunscreen can make you look 50 chile when you are only in your 20’s and so on. So If you want to slow down the aging process and prevent skin cancer then it’s important to incorporate this step in your skincare routine.
4. Bonus Tip: Go the $%*@ to Bed lol…
Try getting a good night rest, sleep, helps repair daytime damage. The body makes more collagen, which minimizes fine lines. More human growth hormone is released, increasing muscle mass and strengthening skin…so no late night IG scrolls lol go to bed!
Okay Queens there you have it! Try these out and be patient -your skin will thank you.
